Reenergize Your Home during Winter

January should be a time of new energy and a renewed feeling of excitement, but it’s not the easiest to switch up the energy during winter in Virginia to get the motivation while stuck indoors. Making your house a home is more than settling into those four walls and throwing some paint on, it should be a place that gives you comfort and the type of energy you are seeking in whatever season you are in. Make a plan on to re-energize your home – I promise this will set the tone for your entire year!

How to Re-Energize Your Home During the Winter (For my Virginia Lovers!)

Add live indoor plants throughout your home. Make a trip over to The Market at Grelen Nursery, located in Orange, Virginia,  to pick out some house plants. Check out Grelennursery.com

Declutter and deep clean

Open your windows! Not all the time, but on some of those warmer winter days open up a few windows and doors on either side of the house to allow fresh air to filter through your home. This is a great way to move out the stale energy.

Make your vision board a piece of art and display it where you will see it every day!

Redesign your office. No need to do a full blown office reno, unless you are okay committing to that. You can simply take what you already have and re position your furniture, add in a live plant, add a sign with your 2023 affirmation, and add in soothing colors through different wall art, throws and pillows. While you are in there doing a little redesign, use this as an opportunity to reorganize your files.

Since these months are lacking sunlight, it’s important to load up on vitamin D. Stock up your kitchen with foods rich in Vitamin D. Add this list 7 Healthy Foods That Are High in Vitamin D (healthline.com) ) of foods high in vitamin D to your grocery list.

Light therapy is another way to get vitamin D daily. Check this top rated sunlight lamp on Amazon.  Amazon.com: Carex Day-Light Classic Plus Bright Light Therapy Lamp - 10,000 LUX At 12 Inches - LED Sun Lamp Mood Light and Sunlight Lamp : Health & Household

Use scents that stimulate your energy, mood and brain power. What we smell has a significant impact on our mood and well being. So change out the cozy Holiday smell of candlewood, pumpkin spice and pine with scents that induce alertness like lime, lemon, orange and other citrus fruits.  The scent of Jasmine is also a good factor that will rev up your energy.

Change out light bulbs with white if they are currently a warm-golden tone.

Your environment, and home, will have an impact on your mental state, your mood and your energy. Making it a priority to re-energize your  home, especially during these cooler months, will surely set the tone for 2023!
