Favorite Bold Virginia Red Wines

There is nothing quite like a crackling fire and a bold glass of red wine to cozy up to! The bolder the better during these cold, winter evenings – with hints of spice, chocolate and dark cherry you’ll surely warm up from the inside out.

We hand selected some of our favorite bold Virginia reds. Here is a list for our Virginia [WINE] Lovers:

  • Effingham Manor Winery Norton 2016

    • Flavors include tart cherry and plum with a hint of subtle spices. Aged in 100% American Oak. The creative labeling will surely give something to talk about around the fire!

  • Williamsburg Winery Virginia Petit Verdot

    • This bold wine offers layers of dates, prunes, plums, blackberry, blueberry and black cherry, along with warm spices of nutmeg and clove. These flavors are wrapped in sweet notes of chocolate and coffee – presenting a truly unique blend with something for all.

  • DuCard Vineyard 2015 PETIT VERDOT

    • Rich nose of old spices, currant and black fruit. A classic Petit Verdot with a sustained structure of acid and tannin revealing an emphatic personality and welcoming round mouth feel with a focused finish like a good 90’s Bordeaux.

  • Wisdom Oak Winery 2019 NINETEEN, a Bordeaux blend crafted with Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.

    • Bold, full-bodied red that is designed to age, so decant before drinking, if possible.

  • Stinson Vineyards MOURVÈDRE 2021

    • Powerful and full-bodied with fresh berry flavors and an intriguing herbal component.

Pass the decanter, I am all bundled up by the fire and ready to sip!
